Pat Carter

Pat Carter is in his 12th year as a volunteer assistant coach with the Marshall University Golf Program.

Pat was a member of the Thundering Herd golf team from 1986 to 1990.  The West Virginia native captained the Herd as a junior and senior, earning All-Southern Conference honors in 1990.

Pat Carter, one of the top amateur golfers in the nation, is a 12-time West Virginia Amateur Champion and has also qualified for the U.S. Amateur 12 times.

Pat was a quarterfinalist in both the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Mid-Amateur in 2003 and was selected as the 2001 WestVirginia Amateur Athlette of the Year.  He has also been honored as the W.Va. Golf Association Player of the year 13 times.  Carter was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.

Pat is a member of Guyan Golf and Country Club and  resides in Huntington with his wife Kellie, and their two children, Hogan and Heidi.

Jim Ward

Jim Ward, a 1962 Marshall Graduate, was a member of the Thundering Herd golf team from 1960-1962.  He was Co-medalist Mid American Conference Champion in 1962.

Jim Ward was the winner of the WV State Amateur in 1964 and competed in the U.S. Amateur 4 times.

Ward was inducted in the Marshall Hall of Fame and is a member of Guyan Golf & Country Club.  He currently resides in Huntington with his wife Gloria.
